I can’t access my own 401k, because I refuse to participate in their third party facial recognition scheme. I contacted my congressman whose staff blew me off.

Clearview has stolen your face from Meta to build it's surveillance aparratus. Now is the time to ban it's use.

And once again the yearly need to mention CV Dazzle arises. https://adam.harvey.studio/cvdazzle

If you do a google search for this now you will see all the top results warning you away from Dazzle. (All from within the last couple of years). I think that Google wouldn’t be stacking the algorithm like that if dazzle weren’t effective.

Thanks for sharing, didn’t know about CV Dazzle! Do you know if it still holds up against current facial recognition algorithms?

I don’t honestly. That seems to be the line of current criticism against it, also that it “makes you more visible in a crowd”. I am suspicious of these claims though because when one asks “cui bono?” The corporate state seems to me to benefit most from discouraging this tactic. I think that is the reason why suddenly after more than a decade there are all these critical pieces on it at the top of Google’s search results.

This scheme where workers will not use their dactylogram or write their time on the timesheets anymore is definitely amazing because they do not need to tap anything just to begin and end their task, go on a break, register in somewhere like before riding on a plane, or even do a classification to an individual, etc. But I have a horrible feeling that this can also use for doing some terrible things like to fake an individual that demands entry or earn a benefit of something which is very normal these days and many people fall into that trap where they did not know that they are being used into some crimes like fraud, impersonation, etc. How can these things be avoided? Is there another method where the authorities can intervene or atleast put a very strict rules and regulation and training for the individual or department in kinds of corporations, enterprises, institutions, etc. that will handle this scheme? In addition, I know that this scheme is not yet polish like there are still some flaws in it where sometimes even though it recorded the correct person sometimes it is not going to work then it turns out that they need to fix something. Is it okay to implement this now or should they stop it for now due to technical errors that this scheme is experiencing?

If you're planning to participate in any mass protest, do this before you do. Also, find one of your masks from the COVID era and wear it. Better yet, if you have a full face mask, especially a Guy Fawkes one, wear that.

Thanks for this valuable information.

Unfortunately Clearview's process is broken. Any California request I submit generates a confirmation email with a "Confirm Email" link that goes to a "link expired" page when I click it within a minute of receipt.

Also, it’s worth knowing the face recognition technology is pretty mature. It works well. Keep this in mind. I work in Human Language Technology, and face recognition is a legitimate thing.

I think it’s good to be skeptical, and glad you’re thinking along those lines. I think for this company, it is worth the risk to do this in order to suppress your results in the future, but it all comes down to if you trust the company to abide by what they say, or if they will use that confirmation against you.

yes, and today the company wants to do good and what about 5 or ten years, like Google whose motto USED TO BE "Don't be evil" and then they erased that.. our personal data is more valuable than gold or maybe even our internal organs and more so when the surveillance state is more established...

For some people this might be a must, so it is good to know about..

I read sci-fi and Bradbury when I was a kid—this is scary stuff. I thank you for clearly walking through the steps to make those of us luddites able to increase our safety. Thank you, Tate.

Too late for me. FB deleted my account and the only way they’d let me get back on is if they scanned my face.

They did not reactivate my account, but they have my face scan now🫨
