Why?

The most common multi-factor authentication (MFA) out there is SMS. Most of us probably use it: when we log in to a website with our username and password, a code is sent to a phone number (via SMS) that we have to enter to access the account.

SIM Swapping is a bad actor tactic used to gain access to accounts protected with SMS MFA.
