Are you a US Veteran? If so, the Department of Defense still has your DNA.

For those of us who have served in the US Military since 1985, it is almost a certainty that your DNA has been retained by the DoD indefinitely.

I wrote a post a few months ago about the importance of protecting your DNA, mainly from 3rd parties like 23andme (see below link if you haven’t read it yet); the tl;dr is: don’t give your DNA to these 3rd parties and if you already have — delete it now!

Think twice before giving up your DNA to testing services like 23andme; but if you do, make sure you protect it!
